Himalayan region of India is major center of diversity of Gymnosperms where conifer forests covers a large area of high altitude zones while cycads and member of Gnetales can be found on lower hills in warm tropical zones. In India, 75 taxa of Gymnosperms are reported, mainly from North-East India. Pine and Cedrus forests are found frequently in Himalayan region.
