Description
Shrubs, anuual or perennial, erect, branched, up to 1–3 m high, pubescent. Leaves simple, alternate, petiolate; petioles usually longer than the blade; lamina cordate, ca. 3–8.5 × 7 cm; base suborbicular–cordate; margins irregularly toothed or crenate–dentate; apex acute or shortly acuminate, greyish–green, stellatelytomentose on both surfaces; stipules subulate, deflexed. Inflorescence usually solitary, axillary. Flowers orange–yellow, ca. 2.5 cm across, pedunculate; peduncles longer than petioles; sepals 5, ovate, apex apiculate, densely pubescent; petals 5, elliptic–obovate; carpels 15–20, exceeding the sepals; awns short, spreading; ovules 2–9 per chamber. Fruits schizocarp. Seeds small, reniform, stellately hairy.
